What is a respiratory therapist?
A respiratory therapist (RT) evaluates, treats, and cares for patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. They work under a doctor's supervision to improve lung function and quality of life.
What education is required?
RTs must complete an associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited respiratory care program and pass the national credentialing exams administered by the NBRC to obtain the CRT credential.
