What is a Clinical Neuropsychologist?
They evaluate and treat cognitive, behavioral, and emotional problems after injuries or illnesses affecting the brain, such as from a stroke, tumor, head trauma or neurological disorders like dementia.
What training is required?
Doctoral degree in clinical psychology or neuropsychology plus an internship and 2-year postdoctoral residency in clinical neuropsychology. They are licensed psychologists.
What do they do?
Administer and interpret neuropsychological tests to evaluate memory, problem-solving, language and other cognitive skills. They diagnose impairments, provide prognostic information and help develop treatment plans.
Where do they work?
