However, miraculously, Travis emerged from the coma in August 2013, defying the odds. He was still unable to speak or move much, but he was able to interact with his loved ones again and seemed to recognize people visiting him in the hospital.

Since then, Travis has continued performing on occasion, releasing a memoir called Forever and Ever, Amen in 2019 and receiving high honors like being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016.
